Tanzanian citizens need a Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) to visit Canada for the FIFA World Cup 26™. You do not need to buy a match ticket before applying for the visa, but you should explain that your trip is for the tournament. Apply online as early as possible, ideally 3 to 6 months before travel, because processing can take 2 to 8 weeks or longer during busy periods.


What you need to apply

  • A valid passport.
  • Proof that you have enough money for the trip. A practical starting amount is about TZS 5,000,000 or more in your account, supported by bank statements from the last 6 months.
  • Proof that you will return to Tanzania, such as a job letter, business documents, or property documents.
  • A travel plan showing the cities and match dates you want to attend.
  • Biometrics, which means fingerprints and a photo, at VFS Global in Dar es Salaam.


Estimated visa cost

  • Visa fee: CAD 100.
  • Biometrics fee: CAD 85.

Total mandatory fee: CAD 185.


Travel budget

Flight prices from Dar es Salaam to Canada will depend on the airline and booking time, but they can be expensive, so book early. In major cities like Toronto and Vancouver, accommodation can cost CAD 250 or more per night. Daily spending for food, transport, and other needs may be around CAD 100 to CAD 150. Official match tickets are sold only through FIFA, and hospitality packages are much more expensive.
