TEACH SWAHILI IN USA UNDER FULBRIGHT TEACHING PROGRAM

 The U.S. Embassy in Dar es Salaam is accepting applications for the 2027–2028 Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program until April 24, 2026. 

This 9-month, non-degree program allows early-career educators to teach Kiswahili, take courses, and share Tanzanian culture at U.S. institutions.

 Applicants must be Tanzanian citizens with a bachelor's degree, strong English skills, and a commitment to return home.

Application Deadline: Friday, April 24, 2026, before 11:59 PM EAT.

Program Duration: Nine months (non-renewable).

Location: U.S. Embassy in Tanzania. 


Eligibility Criteria:

Must be a citizen of Tanzania residing there during the application process.

Must hold a bachelor’s degree by June 2026.

Fluent in English (minimum 550 TOEFL PBT, 79-80 IBT, or 6.0 IELTS).

Must be an early-career educator in fields like English, Education, or American Studies.

Must not hold U.S. citizenship.

Must be willing to live on campus and engage in community activities.

Preference for candidates with little to no prior experience in the U.S.. 


Application Requirements:

Complete the online application form.

Submit academic transcripts.

Provide three confidential letters of reference.

Include a letter of support from an employer (if employed).
