University of Skövde Master's Scholarships

 The University of Skövde awards some partial scholarships to students required to pay tuition fees attending a master's programme at our University. All applicants with citizenship in a non-EU/EEA country are welcome to apply!

Application deadline

The scholarship application for the master's programmes which start in the Autumn 2025 (August 2025 intake) is open. The application deadline is on 3 February, 2025 at 23:59 CET.

Key dates

  • 15 October 2024–15 January 2025: Application for studies to master’s programmes through UniversityAdmissions.se.
  • 3 February 2025: Deadline to submit supporting documentation to University Admissions.
  • 3 February 2025: Deadline to pay the application fee to University Admissions.
  • 3 February 2025: Deadline to submit the scholarship application for the UNIVERSITY OF SKÖVDE MASTER'S SCHOLARSHIPS.
  • 27 March 2025: UniversityAdmissions.se admission results (Notification of Selection Results published)
  • 27 March 2025: University of Skövde Master’s Scholarships results are published on Scholarship Results - University of Skövde

About the scholarships

The scholarships are partial tuition fee waivers (50% of the tuition fee). If you are granted, the amount will be automatically deducted from the tuition fee when you receive your invoice.

The scholarship is granted for one academic semester, but it can be extended to subsequent academic semesters provided that the student's study results are satisfactory. The scholarship granting criterion is academic merit. The scholarships can only be awarded to tuition-paying students (external link).

Please note that you have to be able to finance the remainder of the tuition fee yourself, and to cover all the living expenses during your stay in Sweden.

Important: Scholarships are awarded prior to the commencement of a master's programmeStudents need to apply for scholarships before they receive their admissions results. Students must follow the scholarship application deadline indicated on this webpage. Please check the deadline and scholarship results dates below.

If you are already admitted or enrolled as a master's student at the University of Skövde, you are not currently eligible to apply for the University of Skövde Master's Scholarships.

How to apply

  1. Apply for a master's programme at the University of Skövde via the website UniversityAdmissions.se.
    We recommend all scholarship applicants to meet all deadlines for the master's first admission round on University Admissions. Late applications on University Admissions have almost no chances of scholarship.
  2. Record a 2-minute video explaining why you want to take the master's programme at the University of Skövde and how you are going to use the knowledge acquired during the programme.
  3. Upload your 2-minute video to a website or cloud storage so that it can be viewed by our Scholarship Committee, for example upload your video on Youtube and mark it unlisted. Please note that we will not download any video. We must be able to view the video only with the link provided via the online scholarship application form. 
  4. Write a short motivation text telling us why you have chosen the master's programme at the University of Skövde. The motivation text has to be submitted via the scholarship application form.
  5. Fill out the scholarship application form and submit it before the scholarship application deadline. You must fill out all required fields in the online application form. You must inform your application number (8-digit number) from www.universityadmissions.se. Fill out your motivation text into the appropriate field. Include the link to your 2-minute video (make sure that the link is complete and correct).

Eligibility criteria

  • Citizens of a country outside the EU/EEA and Switzerland.
  • The criteria for awarding a scholarship are good academic merits, the motivation text and video. Criteria can also be other qualifications that are judged to be in line with educational or research areas as well as geographic location which the University of Skövde gives priority to in accordance with its internationalisation strategy.
  • The master's programme must be delivered on campus.
  • Generally students can only be awarded a University of Skövde Master's Scholarship if a master's programme at the University of Skövde is chosen as first priority on University Admissions.
  • You must have completed the application to the programme meeting all deadlines for the master's first admission round. You must meet the entry requirements for the master's programme you applied to, pay the application fee and the supporting documents must have been received before the deadline defined by University Admissions.
    Check the deadlines for the autumn and spring semesters at key dates and deadlines, at universityadmissions.se.
  • You must fill out all required fields in the online application form.  In your motivation text you must tell us why you have chosen the master's programme at the University of Skövde. Scholarship applications without a motivation text will not be considered.
  • Attention: If you are already admitted or enrolled as a master's student at the University of Skövde, you are not currently eligible to apply for University of Skövde Masters Scholarships. These scholarships are awarded prior to the commencement of a master's programme.

No extra documents need to be sent. The Scholarship Committee will access the documentation you submit with your master's programme application on www.universityadmissions.se and the information submitted via the online scholarship application.

KTH Scholarship

Scholarship content

The KTH Scholarship covers the tuition fee at KTH for the first and the second year, provided that the study results during the first year are satisfactory. The scholarship does not include living costs.

How to apply

You can apply for the KTH Scholarship through the "Apply now" button, which is available in the grey box above when the application is open (1 December 2024–15 January 2025). Press the button to access the application form that you need to fill out to complete your KTH Scholarship application. You do not need to submit any additional documents since we can access your application documents at universityadmissions.se during the evaluation process.

Requirements

To be eligible for the scholarship you must be a fee-paying student and have applied for a master’s programme at KTH as your first priority and paid the application fee.

Eligible programmes

KTH Scholarships are available for applicants to all programmes except for joint Erasmus+, EIT Digital, EIT InnoEnergy, EIT Urban Mobility and Nordic Five Tech programmes, and the joint programme Computer Simulations for Science and Engineering. However, applicants to some of these programmes can apply for the KTH Joint Programme Scholarship. Applicants for the joint master's programmes in Molecular Techniques in Life Science, Biostatistics and Data Science, and Innovative Technology for Healthy Living (EIT Health) are eligible for the KTH Scholarship.



Sustainable development

Sustainable development is an integral part of KTH’s operations and spirit. During your time at KTH you will acquire the tools to move society in a more sustainable direction. As a consequence, scholarship applicants should describe how they intend to contribute to sustainable development with a master’s degree from KTH.

Selection process

The scholarship is awarded primarily on the basis of academic excellence and the selection process is undertaken in parallel with the admissions process. Only applicants who fulfil the admission requirements of the programme applied for are eligible for a scholarship. After the applicants have been assessed for admission, an assessment of applicants for the scholarship is made based on the following criteria:

  • The applicant's grades (GPA or equivalent)
  • The ranking of the university that awarded the applicant's bachelor's degree
  • The applicant's extracurricular research experiences or publications, relevant work experience, relevant teaching experience, awards from competitions and extracurricular activities
  • The applicant’s motivation how they will contribute to the sustainable development goals with a master’s degree from KTH

SI Scholarship for Global Professionals

 

 The Swedish Institute awards academic scholarships for master’s studies in Sweden, to global professionals from a selection of countries.

Overview

The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals is an academic scholarship provided for full-time, one- or two-year, master’s studies at several universities in Sweden.

The scholarship covers a wide range of study fields and over 700 of the around 1000 English-taught master’s programmes in Sweden.

Through the scholarship, the Swedish Institute (SI) aim to develop a network of global leaders commited to advancing Sustainable Development Goals and drive the development of their home countries forward.   

The scholarship is open for applications once every year, for master’s studies beginning in the autumn semester. In order to apply you must: 

  1. Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals (will be announced shortly); 
  2. Apply for a master’s programme that is eligible for the SI scholarship;  
  3. Be liable to pay tuition fees at University Admissions;  
  4. Have demonstrated work experience; 
  5. Have demonstrated leadership experience from current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.    

  • What's included

The Scholarship for Global Professionals is a competitive fully-funded scholarship that includes: 

  • Full tuition fee coverage. The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university each semester.
  • A monthly allowance of SEK 12,000 to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.
  • A travel grant of SEK 15,000 (*10,000 for scholars from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine). This is a one-time payment and does not apply for students already living in Sweden.
  • Membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals (NFGP) – a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.
  • After your scholarship period has ended, you become a member of the SI Alumni Network. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.
