 The University of Melbourne Human Rights Scholarship is a fully funded graduate research scholarship for students pursuing human-rights-focused research at the master’s or PhD level.

1.0  Call for Application

 

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) administers the UK government’s Commonwealth scholarship scheme led by international development objectives. Since 1960, the CSC has funded over 30,000 individuals to study in the UK and gain skills, acquire knowledge and build networks to tackle global development challenges.

The General public is hereby informed that the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC) is inviting eligible Tanzanians to apply for Commonwealth scholarships for PhD and Masters programmes for the year 2026/2027. 2.0  Application requirements

 

i.       An applicant for Master degree must hold a first degree of at least upper second class with honours;

ii.     An applicant for PhD degree must hold a relevant postgraduate qualification (a Master’s degree) with at least Upper Second Class with Honours or Distinction;

iii.   All applicants must have the support of a potential supervisor from at least one UK University listed in the applicants’ application form; and

iv.   All supporting documents must be submitted in the required format.


v.     All candidates who have obtained their academic qualifications outside the United Republic of Tanzania must have their certificates duly verified by the relevant accrediting authorities.

iv.   Proof of Tanzanian citizenship or refugee status in a Commonwealth Country; and

v.     A quality study plan with a detailed potential impact on the development of your home country.

Who can apply?

You can apply for KAAD Scholarship Programme 1 if you:

 

  • come from and currently reside in a developing or emerging country in Africa, Asia, the Middle East or Latin America,
  • have a university degree and professional experience in your home country
  • would like to pursue a Master's degree, a PhD or other postgraduate studies, or are planning a post-doc or a research stay (2-6 months for academics) at a German university
  • are of Catholic denomination (or generally belong to a Christian denomination, especially for applicants from the Near and Middle East). Applicants of another religion can be funded if they are proposed by Catholic partners in view of a documentable willingness to engage in interreligious dialogue.
  • have German language skills prior to entry (KAAD can provide for a German language course of max. 6 months in Germany).

What do we expect from you?

 

  1. an above-average performance potential for studies or research,
  2. orientation of studies or research towards a permanent reintegration into the respective home region (otherwise the scholarship is considered a loan),
  3. religious and social commitment or willingness to engage in inter-religious dialogue
  4. German language skills of at least level B1 (or at least A2 in the case of English-language degree programmes) for participation in our compulsory educational programme. Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Benefits in 2025-2026:

For bachelor’s, master’s, one-tier master’s, non-degree programmes, and postgraduate specialist training courses

  • No tuition fee.
  • Monthly stipend
  • Free dormitory residence or an accommodation allowance
  • Medical insurance

For PhD Programs in Hungary:

  • No tuition fee.
  • Monthly stipend of HUF 140,000 (cca EUR 350) for the first phase of 4 semesters.
  • Monthly stipend of HUF HUF 180,000 (cca EUR 450)  for the second phase of 4 semesters until the completion of studies.
  • Free dormitory residence or an accommodation allowance of HUF 40,000 per month will be provided for the whole duration of the program
  • Medical insurance 

Eligibility Criteria of Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship 2025-26:

  • Candidates from eligible countries may apply.
  • Candidates applying for a bachelor’s degree must have a secondary school graduation certificate.
  • Candidates must have an excellent academic record.
  • Candidates applying for a master’s degree should have a bachelor’s degree.
  • Candidates applying for doctoral degrees should have a master’s degree.
  • Candidates applying for a one-tier or non-degree program must have a certificate of student status issued by the sending/home university.
  • The responsible authorities of the Sending partner countries must nominate candidates.

How to Apply for Stipendium Hungraicum Scholarship 2025:

  • The applicants have to apply online on the website of the Tempus Public Foundation.
  • Provide all your detailed personal information, e.g., name, address, date of birth, country, religion, etc.
  • Complete all the required fields for each level.
  • The applicants have to submit the application on the website and save it.
  • After applying to the Tempus Foundation website, the applicants need to apply also through the sending partner of the countries they belong to.
  • Candidates are required to accept the statement for application in the online system.

  • For Doctoral applicants: Contact potential supervisors early to confirm research topics and, if required, obtain a supervisor’s acceptance statement.
  • Use reliable contact information: Provide a trustworthy email address, preferably Gmail, to avoid missing important updates.
  • Submit before the deadline: Complete and submit your application on time through both Tempus Public Foundation and your Sending Partner’s system.
  • Secure your login details: Save your login credentials, registration number, and applicant code for future access.

Don’ts

  • Avoid mismatched study levels: Apply only for programs that align with your current academic level.
  • Don’t switch study modes: Select your program type (full degree or exchange) carefully, as changes aren’t allowed after submission.
  • Follow file guidelines: Ensure all documents are under 4 MB, formatted correctly, and easily accessible.
  • Don’t use unverified agencies: Apply only through official Sending Partners, as unauthorized agencies aren’t recognized by Host Institutions.
