1.0 Call for
Application
The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in the UK (CSC) administers the
UK government’s Commonwealth scholarship scheme led by international
development objectives. Since 1960, the CSC has funded over 30,000 individuals
to study in the UK and gain skills, acquire knowledge and build networks to
tackle global development challenges.
The General public is hereby informed that the Commonwealth Scholarship
Commission in the United Kingdom (CSC) is inviting eligible Tanzanians to apply
for Commonwealth scholarships for PhD and Masters programmes for the year
2026/2027. Interested candidates are highly encouraged to apply. Full details

The CSC is committed to supporting outreach activities and providing
additional investment for scholarships for people with disabilities and in
subject areas related to the rights of people with disabilities. For further

2.0 Application requirements
i.
An applicant for Master degree must hold a first
degree of at least upper second class with honours;
ii.
An applicant for PhD degree must hold a relevant
postgraduate qualification (a Master’s degree) with at least Upper Second Class
with Honours or Distinction;
iii.
All applicants must have the support of a potential
supervisor from at least one UK University listed in the applicants’
application form; and
iv. All supporting documents must be submitted in the required
format.
v.
All candidates who have obtained their academic
qualifications outside the United Republic of Tanzania must have their
certificates duly verified by the relevant accrediting authorities.

3.0 List of documents to be submitted
An applicant must submit the following supporting documents as part of
the evaluation process:
i. Certified academic
certificates and transcripts;
ii. Two recommendation letters (referees reports);
iii. One supporting statement from
a UK institution (for PhD candidates);
iv.
Proof of Tanzanian
citizenship or refugee
status in a Commonwealth
Country; and
v.
A quality study plan with a detailed potential impact
on the development of your home country.
4.0 Application process and submission
Candidates must apply using the CSC’s online application system which can
be found on the CSC website. Online application will be open on 02 September 2025 and closed by 14 October 2025 at 16:00 (GMT). For
