🎓 1. About the UBC International Scholars Program
The International Scholars Program brings exceptional students from different countries and backgrounds to study at one of Canada's leading universities.
Selected Scholars benefit from:
Financial assistance based on assessed financial need.
Access to a globally recognised UBC undergraduate degree.
Dedicated academic, personal and career development advisers.
Leadership and professional development opportunities.
Skills-building workshops and retreats.
Opportunities for student exchange and co-op experiences, subject to programme availability.
Membership in an international community of UBC Scholars.
The programme is celebrating 25 years of impact, with more than 680 Scholars from over 111 countries represented.
💰 2. Scholarship Benefits and Financial Support
The International Scholars Program provides financial support based on each applicant's assessed financial circumstances.
The university evaluates:
Family gross income.
Family expenses.
Family assets and financial resources.
Number of dependants.
Available external financial support.
The amount the family can reasonably contribute towards education.
Is the scholarship fully funded?
Some awards can provide substantial financial support, potentially covering the cost of studying and living at UBC. However, there is no single guaranteed scholarship amount for every recipient.
For example, the Vantage One Excellence Award can be worth up to the full cost of a student's academic programme and living expenses.
The final award depends on the scholarship category and the university's assessment.
