🇨🇭 ETH Zurich Scholarships 2027 – Fully Funded Opportunities
The ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich) is one of the world's leading universities for science, engineering, technology and research.
It offers excellent funding opportunities for international students, including applicants from Tanzania.
There are two important routes to consider:
Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) – fully funded Master's degree.
Funded doctoral positions – salaried PhD research opportunities.
Since you are looking for fully funded postgraduate opportunities, both routes are worth considering.
1. ETH Zurich Excellence Scholarship & Opportunity Programme (ESOP) 2027
CHF 13,500
Scholarship per semester from Autumn Semester 2027
The ESOP supports outstanding international students pursuing a Master's degree at ETH Zurich.
Scholarship benefits
CHF 13,500 per semester towards living and study expenses.
Full tuition fee waiver.
Mentorship.
Access to the ETH Foundation network.
Funding for the regular duration of the Master's programme (3–4 semesters).

Applicants must:
Have an excellent Bachelor's degree.

2. Fully funded PhD opportunities at ETH Zurich
If the applicant already has a Master's degree, this is the route I would recommend.
ETH Zurich generally employs doctoral students as scientific assistants, meaning they receive a salary while undertaking their doctoral research.

Year | Standard full-time annual salary |
|---|---|
First year | CHF 53,500 |
Second year | CHF 54,700 |
Third year | CHF 56,100 |
Actual salaries depend on the employment percentage and funding arrangement.
