The Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST) offers fully funded graduate positions for international scholars entering Master of Science (M.S.), Ph.D., or Integrated M.S./Ph.D. programs. All admitted international students receive automatic financial sponsorship without needing a separate scholarship application.

• 100% Tuition Waiver: Full coverage valued at 3,607,000 KRW per semester

• Monthly Allowances: Basic stipend of 140,000 KRW/month (M.S.) or 295,000 KRW/month (Ph.D.), plus an international student allowance of 120,000 KRW/month (minimum 3.0/4.5 GPA) and 100,000 KRW/month meal allowance

• Research Support: Research assistantship stipends averaging 6.4 million KRW/year (M.S.) and 13.74 million KRW/year (Ph.D.)

Eligible STEM Fields Programs are research-focused and taught entirely in English, including Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical and Robotics Engineering, Environmental and Energy Engineering, Life Sciences, Physics, Chemistry, and Semiconductor Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria & Deadlines

• Must hold non-Korean citizenship

• Must hold a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree prior to enrollment

• Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL iBT 80, IELTS Academic 6.5, TOEIC 750, or an official English-Medium Instruction (EMI) certificate from your previous institution

• Spring Intake (March Start): Applications close early October

• Fall Intake (September Start): Applications close early April
