Attend International congress of Parasitology Canada

Imagine the world’s smartest "parasite detectives" gathering in one place to share their secrets on how to stop diseases. That is ICOPA 2026!

It stands for the International Congress of Parasitology, and it happens only once every four years. Think of it as the "World Cup" for scientists who study parasites—the tiny organisms that can cause big health problems like malaria or stomach bugs.

Why is this meeting happening?

The world is changing fast. It’s getting warmer, cities are growing, and people are traveling more than ever. This makes it easier for parasites to move into new areas.

At this big meeting in Montréal (August 2026), experts will discuss:

Climate Change: How warmer weather helps mosquitoes and other pests spread diseases.

New Medicine: How to create better vaccines and faster tests to help sick people.

Technology: Using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to track where diseases might pop up next.

Helping Everyone: Making sure people in all countries—rich or poor—have the medicine they need.

Target Audience & Key Participants:

Researchers & Scientists: Experts looking to share advancements in parasite taxonomy, ecology, and modeling.

Students & Early Career Professionals: Postdoctoral fellows and graduate students, with specific support for attendees from low- and middle-income countries (LMIC).

Clinicians & Health Practitioners: Medical and veterinary professionals interested in diagnostics, treatment, and control.

Field Experts: Professionals working on zoonotic spillover, wildlife, and aquatic parasitology.

International Agencies: Agencies focused on global health and tropical diseases.

The event is organized by the World Federation of Parasitologists (WFP) in collaboration with local groups like the Canadian Parasitology Network (CPN).
