How to Apply for Canadian Permanent Residency as a Teacher
✅ ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To qualify under the Education Category of Canada’s Express Entry system, you must have recent work experience in any of the following eligible teaching roles in your home country:
Early Childhood Educators and Assistants – NOC 42202
Elementary School & Kindergarten Teachers – NOC 41221
Secondary School Teachers – NOC 41220
Instructors for Persons With Disabilities – NOC 42203
Elementary & Secondary School Teacher Assistants – NOC 43100
If your work experience fits any of the above, you can begin the Express Entry process.
πͺ STEP-BY-STEP PROCESS
1️⃣ Create an Express Entry Profile
Open an account and create your profile on the official IRCC portal.

2️⃣ Complete Your Assessments
Educational Credential Assessment (ECA):
Assess your certificates with WES or any IRCC-approved credential evaluation body.
Language Test:
Write the IELTS General (or CELPIP). Ensure you aim for strong scores.
3️⃣ Submit Your Express Entry Profile
Ensure every detail is correct, accurate, and complete before submission.
4️⃣ Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA)
If your CRS score meets the cutoff for the Education Category draw, you will receive an ITA.
5️⃣ Apply for Permanent Residence (PR)
Once invited, submit your PR application within the given deadline. Do not miss it.
6️⃣ Wait for PR Processing
During processing, you will receive requests for:
Biometrics
Medical Examination
Submit each requirement promptly.
7️⃣ Passport Request (PPR)
If your application is approved, you will receive an email to submit your passport for visa stamping.
Processing usually takes 3–10 working days.
8️⃣ Travel to Canada π¨π¦
After collecting your passport, book your flight and travel.
At the Canadian port of entry, an officer will interview you briefly and stamp your passport.
After entry, you can proceed to your province or destination city.
π IMPORTANT NOTE
Once in Canada as a Permanent Resident, you are not restricted to teaching jobs.
You can switch to any career of your choice because your PR is based on contributing to the Canadian economy—not on working in a specific role.
